The Tanzania Women Miners Association (TAWOMA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization serving the interest of women and children in mining communities.
Formed in August, 1997 and headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzannia, it 16 regional office branches and 15 local branch offices in all active mining areas.
TAWOMA's 350 active members include miners, mineral brokers and dealers, service providers, and mine workers.
They will discuss the challenges of creating market strategies for small-scale mining organizations and examine the things that must be done to promote their effective participation in responsible supply chains.
